Holgaroid

I’ve become infatuated with something lately……something totally inexpensive and totally awesome – Holgaroid’s!  I origionally bought just one, and this week I bought a polaroid back for it and turned it into a Holgaroid.  I’ve been struggling all week to ‘perfect’ an image (the polaroid’s were just coming out black) and I figured out that it’s because you really need a bright sunny day – so this moring I captured my first Holgaroid!  That’s my beautiful Hannah in our front yard…the top is my favorite, but I love how she is underneath her favorite apple tree in the bottom image – running toward her ‘secret spot’ with an apple in her mouth!

I’m taking my new Holgaroid to a wedding with me today, and if it works out, I’ll be brining in along with me to every wedding!  My goal – to give my couples an awesome, instant image of them on their wedding day.  These images are serene and etheral – there is almost something ‘not real’ about them!  I can’t wait to see what happens today!  Wish me luck…

Will & Hyla | Wedding

I met Will and Hyla through the amazing Cindy Byno of Northwoods Events.  Cindy knows every amazing location in the Adirondacks and has planned a remarkable number of breathtaking weddings there.  When she told me the details of Will and Hyla’s wedding, I was hooked.  I’m so glad that they chose me to capture their wedding day!

Location:  Keene Valley, Planner: Cindy Byno, Northwoods Events, Catering: Northwoods Events, Flowers: Trillium in Tupper Lake, Cake: Debbie Coye, Saratoga

I love details – and there were no shortage at this wedding!  Check out the adirondack style window in the ‘honeymoon cottage’ Hyla’s father built…No detail was overlooked in this wedding or on this property.  It was breathtaking!

keene-valley-wedding-1.jpg

The girls were getting ready on the cottage porch, overlooking the High Peaks.  Although you can’t totally make it out, Hyla is sitting in the center of the porch having her hair and makeup done, and her girlfriends are all around her, watching and snapping photo’s!

 keene-valley-wedding-33.jpg

Hyla was amazing beautiful – as all of my clients are.  I have no idea how I get so lucky!

keene-valley-wedding-32.jpg

I have tons of images of Hyla’s dress, but this one screams at me for some reason…

keene-valley-wedding-2.jpg

This is one of my favorite images.  This is Hyla’s puppy – and those of you who follow this blog are probably saying “she looks just like your Hannah”, which she totally does – but she was a mini-me tiny version – I just loved her!

keene-valley-wedding-3.jpg

I’m not sure which of these next two I love best….the killer black and white or the earthy color image….

keene-valley-wedding-4.jpg

keene-valley-wedding-351.jpg

Dressing the bride – one of my favorite traditions…

keene-valley-wedding-37.jpg

Even Hyla’s girlfriends were rocking with killer style (and killer shoes)!

keene-valley-wedding-61.jpg

Each of Hyla and Will’s guests walked down this pathway through the woods (which Hyla’s brother so lovingly cleared for her) to the spot where the ceremony was being held.  Check out that rock formation – they were everywhere!  I just kept starring at them saying, “how are they staying like that”…I’m still wondering – they must be held together with rebar or something…

keene-valley-wedding-50.jpg

keene-valley-wedding-52.jpg

I overheard Hyla telling her girlfriends about Will’s ‘purple’ suit while she was getting ready – and I couldn’t wait to check it out.  Amazingly handsome and oozing with style!

keene-valley-wedding-40.jpg

I have to thank my second shooter for the day, Cynthia, for this perfect image.  This is Hyla and her dad as they started their march toward the wedding ceremony…see the guests in the upper right hand corner?  It’s decided – this is one of my favorite images of the season.

keene-valley-wedding-38.jpg

Hyla’s father is an artist -  which helps to explain every amazing detail about this residence – and he created the wedding program for the day.  Anyone who is familiar with Keene Valley knows how perfect this image captures it’s beauty and charm!

Peter & Mary | Wedding

When I met Peter and Mary I knew that we were a perfect fit.  This was going to be a second marriage for both of them and they wanted an intimate, elegant affair captured with a sophisticated modern flair.  Oh my, did that rhyme??  So not intentional!  Anyway, this was the first time I had shot at Saratoga National Golf Club, but I hope it’s not my last!  The grounds are breathtaking, the staff is extreemly attentive and accomodating and every detail screamed elegance!  As soon as Peter and Mary arrived with their children, the staff escorted them to the back porch where they had a champagne toast waiting for them…

saratoga-national-wedding-6.jpg

I love this shot of Peter and Mary toasting with their children…

saratoga-national-wedding-7.jpg

OK – I finally admit it….I L.O.V.E. shoes.  Love them.  Hubby always laughs at the number of images of shoes I end up with after a wedding.  You usually wouldn’t see them here, but I just love this image and I’m not sure why.

saratoga-national-wedding-8.jpg

I was stressing just a little before this wedding, wondering if I would find what I needed to create ‘modern, sophisticated’ images for them…no problem, Saratoga National’s got it!  This image was shot in the foyer.

saratoga-national-wedding-3.jpg

I’ve mentioned this before, I always try to capture a picture especially for the bride and especially for the groom…  I love how a couple’s pose or the depth of field in my image can help me create this. This one is for Mary…I love how she’s looking at Peter, making him the focus of the photo, and yet you can’t help but notice how beautiful she is and how much she loves him….

saratoga-national-wedding-b.jpg

And this one is for Peter….I used the range of my lens to create depth of field, causing Mary to be the ‘focus’ of this image…

 saratoga-national-wedding1.jpg

Mary specifically wanted a new family photo, and although I have tons of ‘serious’ one’s for her, I love how fun this image is…

saratoga-national-wedding-t.jpg

Three generations – gotta love it!

saratoga-national-wedding-c.jpg

Did I mention how wonderful Saratoga National is???  Even the ceremony chairs screamed elegance!

saratoga-national-wedding-4.jpg

Just before Mary and her dad walked down the aisle…I was rushing into the ceremony room and looked over and caught this as I passed by…

saratoga-national-wedding-1.jpg

Final touches…

 saratoga-national-wedding-e.jpg

saratoga-national-wedding-d.jpg

That’s Mary’s mom waiting for her to walk down the aisle….Check out all that natural light!  The ceremony was held inside, but the room had floor to ceiling windows – a photographer’s dream…I had a blast with the lighting in these next several images….

After the ceremony everyone headed out to the verandah for coctails…What I love most about intimate wedding’s is that I can capture fabulous pictures of every guest for the bride and groom and I quickly learn who everyone is!  This is Mary’s father with both Peter’s daughter and Mary’s…

A sneek peek at the reception room – check out that ceiling!

Happy Clients…

I love it when my clients are happy….really, I love it!  In fact, I sacrafice quite a bit of my personal life to go above and beyond to make them happy (although I am trying to cut down on that somewhat this year and spend some more time with my family and friends)…so I’m thrilled when I get little notes in my inbox like this…

 amanda18.jpg

“Hey Ann Marie,

So, I just checked out the pictures and they are amazing. Thank so, so much. You did a fantastic job! We’ll be in touch soon. Enjoy the rest of your summer.

Sincerely,
Amanda”

so sad…

It’s kind of funny, kind of ridiculous, kind of sad.  It’s the way my Hannah acts every time hubby leaves the house.  The over-the-top sadness tugs at my heart.  What makes it even worse is that she is an Alaskan Malamute…which means she howls…a howl the whole neighborhood can hear.  You would think she lost her best friend.  Can’t you see it…

hannah.jpg

I am pretty sure this sadness is saved only for my hubby….I don’t think she acts this way when I  leave…

 hannah0004.jpg

Is it just me….am I biased…or is this not the best looking dog you have ever seen???
