Connor Turns Two!

Yay!  This month my godson Connor turned two!  When he was little (and for those of you who follow this blog, you remember how little he really was), he looked like my sister….but now he is all Steve, my brother-in-law!  We all fight over who gets to love him the most when we’re all together…partly because he’s the first and only child, partly because we think we don’t see him enough (even though my sister is constantly putting up with all of us), but mostly becuase of his adorable temperment!  He is just the kindest, sweetest kid.  Hopefully they get this lucky the next time, too!

Connor loves giving kisses – and since his soon-to-be Aunt Julie made him a cake, she was lucky enough to get one…

I have more to share…but that’s it for now…

Ann Marie - Hi Rae – I can’t believe he is two already either! Time does fly by. Rob and I are heading out to Boston ‘sometime’ soon to take him to the aquarium. He loves FISHIES!

Ann Marie - Hey Ayami – Thanks so much for the wonderful compliment. Connor is such a doll. You should see those eyes in real life!

Rae Barnes - Too cute! I can’t believe he is 2 already! It feels like just yesterday, I was spraining my ankle at Beth’s wedding! ;-) Congrats to your brother, too!!!

Ayami - Of course – Another stellar job capturing these precious moments! You have an adorable godson and I love how his eyes ‘pop’ in that one shot of him eating cake!

kristin + bob | engagement

A long, long time ago….in fact – early spring when there was still snow on the ground – I met up with Bob and Kristin here in Bolton Landing for their engagement session.  They have decided to keep their images private at this time, so I don’t have alot to pos here.   If you are a wedding guest, don’t worry – you’ll have plenty of time at the wedding to flip through the guest sign in book featuring the rest of their engagement favorites – and leave them a few works of love, luck and wisdom as well.  They did however let me share the one image they used for their save-the-date magnets with all of you!  I gave them five save-the-date designs to choose from – and this was the lucky winner -

kristinsavethedate.jpg

I love it!  And, I love these magnets.  It’s not what you think of the typical save-the-date “cheesy” magnet.  These are designed by me with each couple’s style and images in mind.  The magnets are thick and a real 4X6 or 5X6 professionally printed photographic print is mounted to each one.  In fact, this is what Kristin wrote to me after she sent them out…

“Our guest loved the magnets!  I had so many calls that week. The woman at Paperdolls (a store in Saratoga who prints invitations) said they were the best she has seen …”

Almost all of my clients end up sending out these magnets – and I knew they were great, but it’s wonderful to hear that other people do too!

Anyway, that’s it for now…I have a busy weekend coming up, so check back soon for some new posts!

Mark + Ayami | Engagement

I’ve said it before on this blog, and I’ll say it again.  I have the best clients on the planet!  I knew I would love Ayami the from the first time she contacted me, and when she, Mark and I met to talk about thier wedding I was secretly hoping they would chose me to be thier photographer – and I was simply thrilled when they did!  Thank you, thank you, thank you – to you both!  We started thier engagement session off at Yado Gardens in Saratoga.  I had never been there before, but Mark had taken Ayami there when they were dating.  I couldn’t believe there was such a beautiful spot I had no idea existed!  The weather was not our friend on this day, and the lighting went from very dark to harsh bright – but here are a few of my favorite’s…

Next we headed over to Congress Park.  This has become one of my favorite spots lately, and Mark and Ayami showed me a few placed I hadn’t noticed before!  Of course, I showed them a few spots they’d never noticed before too, like the wall of this parking garage;-)

ayami12.jpg

I always try to get a few shots of the bride and groom by themselves, so they have a nice photo of eachother for their desks at work!

ayami13.jpg

These next two are from the parking garage as well…when I told Ayami and Mark to get in front of that rickity door and hang out they looked at me like I was nuts…they definitely didn’t see what I saw, but them loved the results in the back of my camera…it’s amazing where you’ll find the perfect spot!

ayami14.jpg

OK, last one from the parking garage…

ayami15.jpg

the rest of these were taken on our stroll through the park…

Ann Marie - Hi Jenna – thanks for the compliment. I have hard time keeping up with this blog sometimes – but keep stopping by!

Chris, Rae + Claire | Babies First Year

Rae Barnes is fabulous.  Simply fabulous.  She is responsible for shaking up wedding and portrait photography in this neck of the woods.  My sister commissioned Rae to photograph her wedding in Lake Placid and from the first image I saw on her blog I was hooked.  I still remember it.  My sister and her new husband were crossing the street outside the church with the high peaks in the background and I was trailing behind them holding her dress.  I knew I had to have her for my wedding as well, and she kindly obliged!  And although it was my family who pushed me to turn my love of photography from a hobby into a business so that I could share it with others, it was also Rae in a million ways that she probably doesn’t even realize.  So, when she and her amazing husband had baby number one, little miss Claire, I thought and thought and thought about the perfect gift to send to them.  Adorable outfits, perfect made-in-the-USA wooden blocks spelling out Claire’s name, a cable-knit baby blanket, something less fun but more practical like a baby monitor or a million diapers – nothing was just right.  So I asked myself, if it were me, what would I want – photo’s of my new family of course – that’s why we do this!!!  We work outrageously hard to tell other people’s stories- to create amazing images that capture a moment in time that can be relived forever and passed on from generation to generation.  No one deserves that gift more than the people who create those images themselves.  That and the fact that I stalked her blog daily searching for images of all three of them, only to be disappointed;-)   So, I headed up to Saranac Lake early this morning.  Not as early as we wanted – we were aiming for sunrise but it was cloudy this morning with chances of rain so we headed out a little later when Claire is usually happiest instead.  Rae and Chris chose a beautiful camp on the Lake that has significant meaning to them for the location.   I haven’t had time to do much to these images – but I didn’t want them to have to wait even a day to get a peek, so here they are…

The boathouse in the background is where Chris proposed to Raerae4.jpg

Right here, in this spot…

rae11-2.jpg

This one might be my favorite of the day…but I’m not sure

rae1.jpg

Or, it could be this one…yup, I think it’s this one.

rae10.jpg

Sweet family moments…

rae6.jpg

rae8.jpg

rae3.jpg

Claire’s nursery is awesome (you wouldn’t expect anything less from someone with Rae’s design skills) and she found three perfect frames to hang above Claire’s crib…All three are currently emply, and I think these are all good candidates…

rae7.jpg

rae5.jpg

rae2.jpg

rae11.jpg

Another one of my favorite’s by the lake…yup, that’s the boathouse again in the background!  At first I was going to photoshop out the picnic table and two docks thinking they were distracting, than I realized that they create a line drawing your eyes from the new family, to the boathouse where they got engaged…so I left them in;-)

rae9.jpg

Obviously Chris makes this face on a regular basis!  The things fathers do to make their babies laugh!

rae12.jpg

rae13.jpg

Chris this one of your ladies is for you!

rae14.jpg

Last one…I had to include this one…it was at the very end of the shoot and Claire was getting hungry…not that I could tell (although Rae and Chris certainly could).  She was such a good baby that I can’t remember if she was laughing or fussing in this shot.

rae15.jpg

That’s it for now.  Round two will take place sometime in late August.  Hopefully at this same location!  Thanks to all three of you for letting me be a part of your morning!

Chris Barnes - Ann Marie, thank you so much! I really LOVE the pictures. Rae and I both really appreciate you driving all the way up here to do this for us. Hopefully we can somehow return the favor some day. Looking forward to next time! :-)

jason + julie | wedding

Jason and Julie had an amazing spring day for their East Greenbush wedding!  They simply could not have asked for better weather.  And, on top of that, the day went off without a hitch.  Perfection.  Jason, his best man Jeff, and I actually know eachother from past work lives, but that’s old history.  I’m sure you’re not interested in reading me go on and on about my past- you just want me to get to the images:-)  So, here you go -
